2011 Round Britain Cruise

In 2011 our senior instructor, Nick Bashford of Rightack will be running
a 12 week Round Britain Expedition.
 
"I first thought about this venture during a voyage back from Gibraltar a couple of years ago; I sat in my cabin planning, in detail, a circumnavigation of The British Isles. Even then I had ‘pencilled in’ my first-choice team to lead our expedition. This wasn’t about a personal desire to sail single-handed, it was about sharing the experience with as many like-minded people as possible. By the end of 2009 I had scheduled the dates, and each member of my chosen team had accepted my invitation to take part".
 
At the beginning of May 2011 we will set off from The Solent, on the south coast, in two modern cruising yachts and sail clockwise around The British Isles; the expedition will last for twelve weeks, visiting over thirty ports and anchorages and many of the islands around our wonderful coast. Plenty of time has been allocated for exploring the places we visit, and for changes in the weather.
You will have the benefit of three experienced Yachtmaster Instructors, one of whom is an Ocean Yachtmaster; he will not only be recording the whole trip in a journal for you but will share with those who have an interest the mystique behind the stars.
Our beautiful coastline and its surrounding seas and islands offer the chance to see a wonderful diversity of wildlife, including puffins, dolphins, whales, seals and much, much more.
The weather will dictate our sailing lives, but one thing I can guarantee is a passionate, dedicated team of professionals who are committed to making this a wonderful, lifetime experience – for you.
 
We cast off from The Solent and sail west, to Lands End and The Scilly Isles; then north to the beautiful west coast of Scotland; still further north we’ll spend time exploring the Orkneys and the Shetland Islands.
Heading south, we follow the east coast down to the River Thames and into central London before cruising through the Straits of Dover and along the south coast back to The Solent, to complete the journey of a lifetime.
Twelve wonderful weeks experiencing the outstanding natural beauty of our seas and islands: over 2500 miles of our breathtaking, historic coastline to explore.

Welcome aboard! We will be sailing two modern cruising yachts; each yacht will have an experienced skipper and mate, and six guests. We plan to spend as much time exploring ashore as we do sailing.
There is no age or experience constraint, our only requirement is that our guests are enthusiastic about our adventure.
We plan to run ‘Taster Weekends’ during 2010 to give you a chance to spend time on a yacht and meet some of the team.
We understand that twelve weeks is a serious commitment and we are happy to spend time discussing any aspect of the trip and answering your questions
